Community Groups Are Coming Soon - And We Can't Wait for You to Be Part of One
Have you ever walked out of a conversation feeling like someone actually saw you? Not just heard your words, but understood what was underneath them?
That's what we're praying will happen every week in our new Community Groups.
Why We're Doing This
Here at Princeton Free, our mission is simple: Make Disciples. Our values flows right out of that - Seek God First, Serve Our Neighbors, Share Life Together, Support the Mission.
Community Groups aren't a side program bolted onto that mission. They are the mission, lived out in living rooms, around kitchen tables, and in backyards all over our community. We believe that spiritual growth happens in the context of relationships and that smaller groups are a key method of helping develop relationships among fellow believers.
In other words: God never designed you to grow alone.
What Is a Community Group, Really?
Think of it like this - a healthy person isn't just someone who isn't sick. They're sleeping well, eating right, and building good relationships. The same is true for a group. The goal was never just "no problems." The goal is thriving.
Our Community Group vision is that disciples would grow in their walk with Jesus through:
If you want a picture of what this looked like on day one, look no further than the early church:
"And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.... praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved." — Acts 2:42, 47
That's not a program description. That's a family.
We Know What You Might Be Thinking
Maybe you've been in a small group before that fizzled into either a Bible trivia club or a social hour with a token prayer tacked on at the end. Honestly? That's a common drift, and it's one reason we're being intentional this time around.
Our leaders are being trained, covering everything from vision and healthy group dynamics to leading great discussions, authentic community, discipleship, and how to actually launch and sustain a group long-term. We're not just hoping groups go well. We're building the systems and the leaders to help them thrive.
What This Could Mean for You
Maybe you're new to Princeton Free and looking for a place to belong. Maybe you've been here for years and realized you don't actually know the people three rows over. Maybe you're already leading a group and God is stirring something in you about starting a new one.
Wherever you're at, here's an honest question worth sitting with:
If your group disappeared tomorrow, would anyone notice the difference? Why or why not?
That's the kind of community we're praying for - not one more thing on your calendar, but a place where you're known, cared for, and challenged to grow.
Keep an Eye Out
Community Groups will be launching soon, led by leaders who've spent real time preparing - praying, training, and asking God to shape them into shepherds, not just facilitators. Details on how to join a group (or explore leading one) are coming shortly.
Until then, here's something you can start doing today: pray for the group you don't even know you'll be part of yet. Pray for the people who will be sitting in that circle with you. Pray for courage to show up honestly, even before you know their names.
There's an empty chair out there with your name on it - and one waiting for someone else because of you.
